What you will learn from this PDF slides:
Join us for this webinar, as Mr. Tay shares his knowledge about Amber, the occurrence of amber from around the world together with its geological age. And also, he will be sharing his experience at the Amber mine in Hti Lin, its geology, gemological properties and FTIR result.
It is a well-known fact that Myanmar (Burma) is famous for its Ruby, Sapphire, Spinel, Jadeite-jade and other rare gemstones. Not many people know that Myanmar also produced Amber.
According to historical record, Myanmar has been supplying Amber to China since the 1st century, which is more than 2,000 years. Recent economic boom in China has reignited the interest to trade amber. Just over the last two years, approximately 300,000 people joined in the mining and trading of Amber.
The major mining location is at Hukawng Valley, northern Burma. In 2010-11, a new discovery of amber was found in Hti Lin, Magway Region, central Burma, which Mr. Tay Thye Sun visited in 2015. He will be sharing this experience with us during the webinar.
